NAS British Cycling Success
On 27th- 29th June 2014 NAS was honoured to sponsor the National Road Race Championships which were held within our native Monmouthshire. The weekend was a massive success and the owners of the Lawrence group didn’t hesitate to travel halfway around the world from China in order to be a part of the event.
As part of the sponsorship, NAS manufactured the medals for the Gold, Silver and Bronze races which took place on the Saturday before the championship race; an entrant was heard to remark “Receiving this medal has made all the sweat, tears and saddle sores worthwhile”. NAS had their own VIP area in Bailey Park, Abergavenny where employees were welcomed along with their families to watch the races and engage in the fun activities taking place at the NAS marquee and around the park. Four employees entered the bronze sportive which took place on the Saturday morning; two of them did really well and were placed in the top three!
On Sunday the championship race was held taking the male riders 186km and the female riders 101km around Monmouthshire. After a number of laps around Abergavenny town centre, Team Sky’s Peter Kennaugh was victorious in the men’s race, and Wiggle Honda’s Laura Trott beat Lizzie Armistead to the women’s title.
Overall, the company’s sponsorship of this event helped foster relationships between NAS, the local community and the council. Seeing the NAS branded banners lining the route on national TV was a moment to remember and will be sure to raise the company’s public profile.
